I Foresee Difficulties…
I’ve been working on a couple of short stories recently.
The one I’m working on now, called Where Wolf, is almost completed. It’s at around 5000 words at the moment, but it’ll run another thousand or so words.
Making it one of my longer stories.
Also, I think it’s one of my better stories as well. (emphasis on I think).
The more I write, though, the better idea I’m getting as to how it’ll be when I finally get to writing novel length stories.
And from here it looks FRAKEN HARD!
More and more I’m seeing writing as a big pile of goop. You have nothing to hold it all, so you have to hold it in your hands. Little bits drip off the side and you have to try and balance this semi-liquid crap so you don’t lose the whole thing. With short stories, I seem to be able to balance it okay. But that’s only a few thousand words.
How am I going to go with a pile of goop eighty to ninety thousand words thick?
Just reading books doesn’t give you any idea of how difficult its going to be.
It’s kinda scary.
Well, that’s pretty much the extent of my thought processes for tonight.
Here’s a sneak peak at the story -
